THE TWO MARSHALS
I DUE MARESCIALLI
Synopsis
8 September 1943: Capurro, a petty thief dressed as a priest, is arrested by the Police Warrant Officer, Cotone; but during an air raid he manages to dress himself in police uniform, leaving the other with the priest’s clothes. The false officer agrees to collaborate with the Germans and is appointed commanding officer of the area, while Cotone takes refuge in the parish. The circumstances lead to the strangest misunderstandings, until Capurro is condemned to death for having aided some partisans. After several years Cotone, now retired, is robbed in such a way as to leave no doubt: Capurro is still alive.
