Synopsis
The story of a rich and dissipated man who fails to keep his affair a secret from his wife, with whom he no longer has a relationship following a miscarriage which led to her frail health. But she in turn is attracted to a young writer and eventually becomes pregnant. Jealous, the husband returns to his wife, but when he finds out she is pregnant, he insists on an abortion, which she refuses, declaring that it would be a crime. The husband has no choice but to suppress the “innocent” and leaves it to die from exposure, making it look like natural causes. The wife however realizes and the husband confesses all to his lover, who brands him a monster and declares their relationship over.
