Synopsis
During the screening of an old black-and-white funny film, the protagonists, Renato and Paolo, in order to escape from a puffing train, emerge from the screen. Thrown suddenly into the chaos of present-day life they are obliged to face a tremendous problem: that of finding a job. Wherever they are employed they only manage to create havoc: first they are employed to restore a church, then to work in a petrol station, then as grave-diggers for a funeral-service company, and finally as right-hand men to two criminals. Involved in adventurous chases which take them back through all the places they have visited so far, they end up back in the cinema from which they departed. And so they decide to return back into the screen.
