Synopsis
Lucia, a chemistry student in Pavia, meets and falls in love with a fellow medical student, Mario. When they decide to marry, Lucia’s father agrees but wants them to wait. But the two youngsters do not wish to wait and when lectures start up again they marry in secret. Presented with a fait accompli, the parents accept the situation and the two newlyweds start married life which is hard at first as they still must graduate. When Lucia dies in childbirth, leaving a daughter to raise, it is her father who decides to help out.
