Synopsis
Brescello, where Peppone is mayor and Don Camillo the parish priest, is being twinned with Breyscewski, a country hamlet in Russia. But the priest is contrary and decides to oppose it by using two Russian refugees as propaganda. But the device emerges as worthless when it is discovered that these two are really Italian swindlers. The twinning is established and Peppone makes up the squad of “comrades” who will go to Russia for the celebrations. By means of blackmail, Don Camillo forces the mayor to include him in the squad under a false name. Don Camillo however creates havoc, insisting on continuing to carry out his priestly duties. But Peppone gets his revenge by joining a crusade of young priests which Don Camillo, having returned home, will have to accompany to the USA.
