Synopsis
While awaiting the conclusion of the dramatic negotiations between the Soviets, who have surrounded Budapest with a wall of tanks, and the rebellious Hungarians guided by Maleter, five Italian journalists of varying political stances find themselves having to pass those endless hours together in a hotel room. The sense of imminent tragedy creates a lively debate, gradually revealing the secret drama of each one of them. At dawn, the rumble of the Soviet tanks announces the start of the tragedy and decides the fate of three of the characters.
